Hello hello all of you. I hope you all are doing well and enjoying your week. I am going to preface this post by saying I am not a financial advisor. I am not the best with my money but I don’t have loans, debt and a cute little savings so I thought I’d share with you all my little tips and tricks to help me save a little bit here and there. Let’s get right into it.
Buy designer pre loved
This is probably my biggest tip. I’ve purchased so many things that are literally brand new and sometimes half the price. I love Tradesy, RealReal & even Poshmark can be great (they have to authenticate if anything is valued more than $300). This is my biggest tip for designer lovers because after you’ve enjoyed your pieces you can turn around and sell them sometimes what you bought them for. Designer is always an investment.
Take public transportation
I think uber is the biggest waste of money. I try to stay away because it’s not worth it for me. In Chicago the CTA is unbelieve and can literally get you anywhere in the city so I try and take it as much as I can. If it’s a reasonable time and not super far, I try and leave a little earlier to save some money. Looking at it, I can save hundreds a month on uber.
I know people who go out to lunch every day. Which is totally fine but I’d rather keep my $15 for lunch and spend it on something else. If you pack a lunch 2 times a week you can save yourself over $100! I don’t know about you, but I’d rather put that towards something that is tangible.
Listen, a girl loves happy hour. I used to work in retail and I couldn’t make it to happy hour so now that I have more time I hit up every happy hour I try to. In Chicago, there are a ton of great ones that are worth checking out. I mean, if I can go out and get drinks and food for $20, I’ll be there with bells and whistles on (that’s the saying, right?)
Clean out your closet
This is something I try to do a few times a year. I love getting rid of things and then going to sell them on Poshmark. Even if it isn’t for a ton of money, it’s better than nothing and can help go towards new clothes you just made room for.
This is my favorite website for getting cashback. They have different values but when I have to buy things that can get expensive (cough cough, Sephora) that can possibly give me 10% cash back I do it. They end up sending you a check every few months with your cashback and it’s my favorite thing ever. Even if it’s a little bit everytime you online shop it’s totally worth it. Use my link (https://www.ebates.com/r/KHILL728?eeid=28187) to get $10 after your first trip!
Last thing I love is Honey. This is an extension on your browser that searches the internet high and low for coupons and automatically applies them to your cart. 9/10 after I use this it saves me either money on shipping (the most annoying thing to pay for) or just overall.
Okay so those last two sounded like an ad. Which they totally aren’t. These are genuine things that I try and do every time I think about spending money to make it hurt a little less. Let me know some of your money saving tips on my most recent Instagram. Happy spending!
Hello hello and welcome to my world. What does the world of Keri Hill contain? It’s one with a lot of McDonalds nuggets, luxury shopping and my French bulldog, Luna. It’s a world where I share with you my favorite healthy snacks in a post but then an hour later you see me eating pasta and french fries on my snapchat (it’s all about balance.) It’s a world where I post a few times a week about lifestyle, home decor, fitness and beauty. It’s a world that I hope you’ll be a part of and look forward to escaping yours to come to.
